Unidentified thieves broke into the house of a businessman in Koh-e-fiza, Bhopal on Sunday, stealing cash and valuables amounting to Rs 10 lakh, according to the police. The victim, Shailendra Shrivastava, who had been away from home with his family for two days, discovered the theft upon returning on Monday morning. The main door was found broken, and the entire house had been ransacked. Shrivastava immediately alerted the police, who initiated a search for the culprits.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a youth was arrested within 24 hours by the police for vandalizing an ATM booth in Malviya Nagar. Rajkumar Yadav, a resident of Bhim Nagar slum in Arera Hills, was apprehended by the TT Nagar police. The incident occurred on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, when Yadav broke the display screen of an ATM belonging to a private bank. The authorities managed to identify the suspect through extensive review of CCTV footage.
These incidents have highlighted the rising concerns of burglary and vandalism in the city. The local residents are expressing their distress and fear for their safety. An anonymous resident stated, We are living in constant fear of such incidents. The authorities should increase security and patrol in residential areas to prevent such crimes.
