North Carolina Tar Heels football players Kaimon Rucker and Elijah Green have earned preseason honors by being named to the Wuerffel Award Watchlist for the upcoming 2023 season. The University of North Carolina’s football program has been consistently receiving recognition on various award lists ahead of the season.
Rucker, who is entering his senior year at Carolina, was the recipient of the 2022-2023 ACC Top Six in Service Award. He has actively participated in multiple community programs and showcased leadership qualities on campus. Last year, Rucker dedicated his time to various organizations such as Extra Yard for Teachers, UNC Children’s Hospital visits, the Boomerang after-school care program, Y-School Field Trip Tour, and Table NC.
Green, a junior this academic year, is an active member of the Uplifting Athletes Organization and has also contributed to UNC Children’s Hospital visits. He recently took part in the ACC Unity Trip to Washington, D.C. In addition to his off-field endeavors, Green served as a member of the SAAC executive board and was a leader in the UNC Football bible study. He was recognized as an AD Scholar-Athlete and had the opportunity to participate in the Global Immersion Program, studying abroad in New Zealand and Australia.
Both Rucker and Green are expected to have a significant impact on the Tar Heels’ performance on the field this season. Their inclusion on the Wuerffel Award Watchlist not only highlights their athletic abilities but also recognizes their contributions within their communities and classrooms.
