Unbeaten Cowboys Face Cardinals without Star Defender

The Arizona Cardinals and the Dallas Cowboys are preparing to face off in Week 3 of the NFL season. The Cardinals, currently at 0-2, are still searching for their first win, while the Cowboys are riding high at 2-0. However, the Cowboys will be without one of their star defenders, cornerback Trevon Diggs, due to a season-ending ACL injury.

The Cowboys have been dominant in their first two games, trouncing the Giants with a score of 40-0 and defeating the Jets 30-10. Their success has been largely thanks to their strong defense, which leads the league in multiple categories including scoring defense, total yards per game allowed, passing yards per game allowed, sacks, and takeaways. Losing Diggs is undoubtedly a blow to their defensive prowess, but the team has made some roster moves to ensure they still have depth in that area.

On the other hand, the Cardinals have been struggling to find their footing. With a record of 0-2, they are desperately seeking their first victory of the season. Compounding their difficulties is the absence of starting quarterback Kyler Murray, who is still out recovering from a torn ACL he suffered last season. In Murray’s place, Joshua Dobbs will be starting against the Cowboys. Dobbs has yet to secure a win in any of the four games he has started, including a 27-13 loss to the Cowboys when he played for the Titans last year.

When it comes to head-to-head matchups, the Cowboys have historically had the upper hand against the Cardinals, with a record of 56-33-1. However, the Cardinals have proven to be formidable opponents on their home turf. Since 1999, the Cowboys have struggled on the road against the Cardinals, only managing a 2-7 record. Notably, three of those seven losses came in overtime, and two were decided by just one point.

As the Cowboys and Cardinals gear up for their showdown, both teams face their own challenges. The Cowboys must adjust to playing without Diggs, a key component of their strong defense, while the Cardinals look to secure their first win and prove their resilience in the absence of Murray. It promises to be an intriguing matchup, with both teams hungry for victory. Only time will tell which team will emerge victorious on game day.
