The Coalition highlighted that current AI policies are at risk of stifling the growth of startups. Startups have been the backbone of the UK’s AI ecosystem so far, with 1,500 high-growth AI start-ups employing 20,000 people and generating over £1bn in revenue. These companies take innovation risks that larger firms are unable to, which makes them a significant test for AI policies. The Coalition for a Digital Economy (Coadec) has renamed itself to the Startup Coalition, with a renewed focus on the conversation around AI, recruitment, and funding.
