Ukraine forward Artem Dovbyk is set to join Spanish side Girona in a transfer deal that is nearing its completion. The 26-year-old, currently playing for Dnipro-1, will be replacing Valentin Castellanos, who was Girona’s top scorer last season. The news of Dovbyk’s move to Girona was reported by the TaToTake show on its YouTube channel.
According to sources, the Ukrainian and Spanish clubs, along with Danish club Midtjylland, which holds part of Dovbyk’s rights, have reached an agreement in principle on the transfer. Girona will pay six million euros for the forward, with 450,000 euros going to Midtjylland.
Dovbyk’s last match with Dnipro-1 is expected to be in the second qualifying round of the Champions League against Panathinaikos. Following that, he is due to join Girona in England as they finalize their preparations for the new season. On August 12th, Girona will be facing Real Sociedad in the first round of the Spanish league in San Sebastian.
