UK Prime Minister Requests Cameo in ‘Star Wars’ Film to Fulfill Childhood Dream
In a recent interview, the UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak expressed his desire to make a cameo appearance in a ‘Star Wars’ film. As a huge fan of the franchise, he revealed that it has always been a childhood dream of his to be a part of the iconic space saga and help take down the Death Star. Sunak’s love for ‘Star Wars’ is well-known, and he even has a collection of lightsabers.
During the interview, when asked which ‘Star Wars’ character he identified with the most, Sunak declined to give a direct answer, leaving it open for others to decide. However, he did express his fascination with piloting the Millennium Falcon and an X-wing, citing them as bucket list experiences he would love to have.
The Prime Minister’s interest in ‘Star Wars’ extends beyond his personal life and into his political career. There has been speculation about how he draws on the movies for his political philosophy. In 2019, he tweeted a photo of himself and then-Treasury chief secretary Sajid Javid at a screening of ‘The Rise of Skywalker,’ referring to Javid as a Jedi Master in the caption. When Javid resigned as chancellor in 2020, Sunak tweeted, The Force is strong in young Sunak.
Sunak is not the only British politician with an affinity for ‘Star Wars.’ Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer once compared Prime Minister Boris Johnson to Jabba the Hutt during a session of Prime Minister’s Questions. Additionally, George Osborne, a former Conservative chancellor, is credited in the 2015 film ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ for granting tax relief that helped ensure the movie was shot in Britain.
It remains to be seen whether the UK Prime Minister will have the opportunity to fulfill his childhood dream and make a cameo appearance in a ‘Star Wars’ film. As a fan-favorite franchise that has captured the imaginations of millions worldwide, the idea of having a world leader make an appearance would undoubtedly generate excitement among fans. Whether or not this dream becomes a reality, Sunak’s passion for ‘Star Wars’ continues to shine through, both in his personal life and his political career.
