The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention has launched the ‘Safe Healthy Hajj’ campaign in cooperation with various state institutions, to ensure a safe and healthy journey for Hajj pilgrims. The initiative provides health guidelines and requirements for pilgrims, including access to hotlines for health-related queries and on-site medical teams with essential medicines. The campaign aims to ensure the health and safety of vulnerable groups such as the elderly, pregnant women and those with chronic illnesses. Pre-Hajj health measures are also part of the campaign, inclusive of health centre visits for those with chronic illnesses, essential and booster vaccinations, and guidance on preventive health measures during Hajj, such as avoiding physical stress and maintaining a healthy diet. High-ranking health officials have also advised pilgrims to adopt healthy habits, including staying adequately hydrated, using umbrellas for shade, and refraining from sharing personal items such as prayer mats.
