U.S. Army War College Seeks Top-notch Instructor for Temporary Position in Pennsylvania
The U.S. Army War College, situated in Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, is currently looking for a highly qualified instructor or professor to join their team on a temporary basis. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the education and development of military professionals in the field of national security studies and strategic studies.
To be eligible for this role, applicants must be U.S. citizens and possess the necessary education and/or experience requirements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven track record of exceptional teaching in areas such as military strategy, joint warfighting, military history, or campaign design at undergraduate and/or graduate levels. Experience as a teaching assistant or instructor of record will also be considered. Preference will be given to those with experience at the Senior Service College level.
In addition to teaching expertise, candidates should possess the ability to conceptualize and design lesson plans, facilitate seminar dialogues, lecture, guide student research, and assess student performance. Familiarity with military strategy, campaign design, planning, and operations will be advantageous and can come from extensive practical experience or teaching experience in these subjects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering curriculum using a variety of in-person and virtual experiential learning techniques. This may include seminar dialogues, discussion forums, staff rides, group activities, war games, debates, and simulations. Refined oral and written communication skills are essential, as the instructor will also serve as a faculty advisor for students’ written research projects.
A master’s degree (or higher) in national security studies, strategic studies, or a related field is required for this role. Furthermore, the ability to share expertise and foster the development of faculty colleagues to improve the organization is highly desirable.
