In contrast, engineering group Filtronic surged 48 percent following the announcement of a strategic partnership with Space Exploration Technologies Corp.
However, mining company Fresnillo experienced a slight decline of about 1 percent after disclosing a drop in gold and silver output for the first quarter. Lloyds Bank also dipped half a percent despite reaffirming its full-year margin expectations.
On the positive side, Reckitt Benckiser enjoyed a 5.4 percent increase in its stock price after reporting a 1.5 percent growth in like-for-like net revenue for the first quarter.
