Two workers lost their lives on Wednesday when a pillar collapsed at a construction site in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India. The incident occurred during the installation of the pillar at the Srinivasa Setu construction site. The victims have been identified as Avijit from West Bengal and Barthomandal from Bihar.
After receiving information about the incident, a police team promptly arrived at the scene. The construction site was in the third phase of the project, with work taking place as part of the regular schedule late at night. Unfortunately, while two workers were working under the pillar, it collapsed on them, resulting in their immediate death.
Rescue operations are currently underway to remove the collapsed pillar with the assistance of JCBs. Additionally, rescue teams are assessing whether there are any other casualties or injuries as a result of the incident.
