Two women tragically lost their lives after a portion of a pond collapsed in Bhopal. The incident occurred at Balrampur village, situated at the border of Bhopal and Raisen district over the weekend. The victims were identified as Firoja Bi and Pinki Adivasi, both residents of Balrampur. They were working on the area and removing soil when the upper part of the pond suddenly collapsed. Two other women were rescued from the same spot.
Officials from the local administrative department and the State Disaster Response Force immediately rushed to the spot for investigation. Bhopal District Collector Ashish Singh reported that the kins of the deceased women will receive compensation of Rs. 4 lakh.
While the authorities are investigating the incident, many people are reminding others to be cautious while working on unstable land. Many lives have been lost due to lack of proper protocols and guidelines when working on such sites.
This is not the first time that such an incident has occurred. In April, five people died after a structure collapsed while they were digging a well in Madhya Pradesh‘s Datia district. In January, a similar incident happened in the same district, killing five people. People need to take extra precautions before working on such sites to prevent the loss of life.
The incident is a reminder that safety needs to be a top priority in all industries. While investigations continue, we must not forget the importance of implementing strict safety guidelines to avoid such incidents from happening in the future. Our hearts go out to the families and friends of those who lost their lives in this unfortunate accident.
