Two dacoits were killed and three police officers were injured during a police encounter in East Champaran district, Bihar. According to reports, the police received a tip-off that some dacoits were assembling in Purhania village on Sunday, and a large number of police forces headed by district SP reached the place and surrounded them.
The dacoits attacked the police with bombs when asked to surrender, which resulted in three policemen sustaining splinter injuries. The police responded by opening fire, killing two dacoits on the spot. The others managed to escape into adjoining Nepal.
The injured cops were admitted to Sadar Hospital, Motihari, and their condition is stable. A large amount of arms and ammunition were recovered from the spot.
