The accused in the courtroom murder case in Uttar Pradesh, Vijay Yadav, has two prior criminal cases against him, including the alleged kidnapping and rape of a minor girl for marriage. The crimes were reported at the Deogaon police station in Azamgarh district, eastern Uttar Pradesh. Yadav was charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) in the first case, lodged against him nine years ago. The second case was filed against him in 2020 at Kerakat police station in Jaunpur district under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 186 and 269.
Yadav is a 24-year-old resident of Sultanpur Sarki village under the Kerakat police station limits of Jaunpur. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and had been living in Lucknow for the past three months. During his stay in the state capital, Yadav worked as a plumber. After completing his education, he worked as a daily wager in Mumbai. Yadav is the son of a farmer and is the second of four siblings.
According to Yadav’s father Shyama Yadav, his son went to Lucknow three months ago with another youngster from their area. He returned home after a month-long stay and then visited home every fortnight. Yadav left home for the last time on May 11, and his mobile phone was switched off since then. Yadav was accused of killing gangster Sanjeev Maheshwari Jeeva in the courtroom and was arrested under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The investigation is in progress to uncover more details of the crime that sent shockwaves across the state.
