Delhi Police have arrested two men who were allegedly involved in duping people by offering electronic gadgets at extremely low prices. The police stated that they have recovered three mobile phones that were used to commit the crimes from the accused. The arrests were made after a resident of Delhi filed a complaint about being cheated by the accused. The complainant, Akhilesh Gupta, alleged that the accused had sold him expensive gadgets at low prices.

The accused have been identified as a 22-year-old resident of Shanti Nagar, Model Town, Panipat, and a 21-year-old resident of Maghra, Nalanda district in Bihar. A case was registered under section 420 of the Indian Penal Code on May 22.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Ravi Kumar Singh, the complainant’s complaint was forwarded to the Cyber Crime branch for investigation. The accused were identified and located in Shanti Nagar and Maghra, respectively, through the technical analysis of IPDR and tracing the money trail.

The police stated that the accused persons had used social media platforms to lure unsuspecting victims with attractive offers of electronic gadgets at throwaway prices. Once the buyers made the payment, the accused stopped responding to their messages and did not deliver the goods. The police have advised the public to be wary of such offers and to verify the seller’s credentials before making any payments.

The police urged anyone who has been similarly cheated by the accused to come forward and report the incident. They also advised the public to contact the police if they come across any suspicious offers of electronic gadgets or other products online.

The accused have been taken into custody and will be produced before a court of law. The police are investigating whether the accused had any other partners or were part of a larger racket involved in such fraudulent activities.

In conclusion, it is important to be vigilant and exercise caution while buying any products online, especially if they are listed at an abnormally low price. By following simple precautions and ensuring the seller’s credentials, one can avoid falling victim to such scams.
