TV Presenter’s Parents Tragically Die Together in Car Accident on Kent Farm
In a devastating incident, the parents of TV presenter Phil Spencer lost their lives after their car veered off a bridge and fell into a river on their estate in Littlebourne, Kent. The accident occurred as they were making their way to lunch on Friday. Spencer, known for his role in the popular show Location, Location, Location, expressed his profound grief and shared that his parents would have wanted to pass away together.
The 53-year-old presenter took to Instagram to share the heartbreaking news. He wrote, Very sadly both of my amazing parents died on Friday. As a family, we are all trying to find solace in the fact that Mom and Dad departed this world together and won’t have to experience the pain of losing one another.
Leading up to the accident, Spencer mentioned that his mother Anne was battling Parkinson’s disease, while his father David was dealing with dementia. Although they both seemed to be in good spirits in the days before the tragedy, their health conditions were gradually deteriorating, making the future challenging. Spencer revealed that his mother had even resigned herself to the idea that they might pass away together, saying, now it looks like we will probably go together.
Recalling the details of the accident, Spencer explained, The car, moving at a slow pace, toppled off a bridge on the farm’s driveway and ended up upside down in the river. Fortunately, there were no physical injuries, but the couple’s carer, who was also in the vehicle, managed to escape through a back window and raise the alarm. Spencer’s brother, equipped with a penknife, freed his parents from their seat belts and pulled them out of the river, but sadly, they never regained consciousness.
The tragic incident prompted a response from the Kent Fire and Rescue Service, which dispatched three fire engines and a water safety unit to the scene. It remains a heart-wrenching and shocking event for the family, but Spencer believes that the fact his parents passed away together on the farm they loved might bring some solace in the future. He expressed, It feels horrendous right now, but after almost 60 years of marriage, to die together on the farm they so loved will, I know, be a comfort in the future.
Spencer’s co-presenter on the show, Kirstie Allsopp, took to Instagram to express her condolences and urged fans to send love to his family. In her heartfelt message, Allsopp shared a lovely photograph of Anne and David Spencer, describing them as farmers, animal lovers, and dedicated parents and grandparents.
This tragic accident serves as a reminder of the unpredictability of life and the preciousness of every moment.
