Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya announced the successful dismantling of the notorious organized crime group known as the Scots Gang in a major operation codenamed Operation Cage-17. The operation simultaneously took place in Istanbul-based Tekirdağ and Gaziantep, resulting in the capture of 38 individuals, including the gang’s ringleader and other key members.

Among the 38 apprehended individuals, including the ringleader, eight have been arrested so far, while the operations against the others are still ongoing.
During the operation, law enforcement seized a significant amount of illegal substances and contraband. This included 23 kilograms of cocaine, 95 kilograms of heroin, 165 kilograms of skunk (a potent strain of cannabis), 15 kilograms of methamphetamine, and 10,500 synthetic narcotic pills. Additionally, authorities confiscated firearms, a substantial quantity of gold, Turkish Lira, and foreign currency. Preliminary assessments estimate the total value of these seized assets at approximately 200 million Turkish Lira. Furthermore, all assets belonging to the organized crime group, worth a staggering 250 million Turkish Lira, have been seized.
Minister Yerlikaya expressed his admiration for the Gendarmerie’s role in organizing and executing the successful operation.
