Letter: Trump uses the language of a would-be dictator
Last month on Meet the Press, host Kristen Welker asked Lindsey Graham whether it was right for Donald Trump to assert that undocumented immigrants are poisoning the blood of our country. The senator dismissed the question as being just about language.
We would err to think that Trump in his campaign doesn’t mean what he says. About immigration, retribution, bringing the Department of Justice and the FBI to his heel. His enemies are vermin. Putin’s his hero, he loves Kim Jong Un, he admires Turkey’s Recep Erdogan.
That said, he does share Sen. Graham’s disdain for language, as we would see if he won the election in November and took the oath of office on Jan. 20, 2025. Trump would swear or affirm that he will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. For him, that’s just language. He would no more abide by that oath than he did in his first term.
He wants to be dictator of the United States of America.
