Former US President Donald Trump has claimed that he will release an irrefutable report that he believes will lead to all charges against him being dropped. Trump made the announcement after being indicted by a Georgia grand jury in relation to alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in the state.
According to the charges brought by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, Trump is accused of violating Georgia’s anti-racketeering law, conspiracy, making false statements, and asking a public official to violate their oath of office.
In response to the indictment, Trump denounced the ruling as a total shutdown of democracy. He criticized the District Attorney as failed and corrupt and raised suspicions of the ruling being rigged. Trump also argued that those responsible for election fraud should be held accountable, rather than those who fought to uncover the alleged rigging.
Alongside Trump, eighteen alleged co-conspirators were also indicted in the Georgia case, including Trump’s lawyers Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, and Jenna Ellis, as well as former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and ex-Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark.
In addition to the Georgia indictment, Trump is facing criminal charges in three separate cases in Manhattan, Miami, and Washington, DC. The total number of counts against him amount to 91, with potential prison sentences totaling 712 years and 6 months.
Trump intends to present his irrefutable report during a news conference scheduled for Monday of next week in Bedminster, New Jersey. He has stated that he expects the report’s findings to result in a complete exoneration for himself and others involved.
It remains to be seen how Trump’s report will impact the legal proceedings against him, and whether it will indeed provide the evidence necessary to have the charges dropped. The indictment marks another chapter in Trump’s ongoing battle to clear his name and defend his actions surrounding the 2020 US Presidential election.
