A Trinamool Congress leader’s nephew was killed amidst the ongoing violence surrounding the upcoming panchayat elections in West Bengal. This unfortunate incident has raised the death toll to 15. The blast occurred in Deganga, North 24 Parganas district, during clashes between activists of the ruling and opposition parties.

The victim, identified as 17-year-old Ibram Hossain, was the nephew of Trinamool Congress leader Md Arsadul Hoque. According to Hoque, he and his nephew were attacked by a joint team of CPI(M) and All India Secular Front (AISF) activists while they were returning home on Tuesday night. He claimed that crude bombs were thrown at them, resulting in his nephew’s tragic death. Hoque strongly appealed to the administration to arrest the responsible individuals and take firm action against them.

However, Naushad Siddique, the only AISF representative in the state Assembly, has denied the charges and instead suggested that the incident was a result of infighting within the ruling party.

Santanu Sen, a member of the Trinamool Congress in Rajya Sabha, criticized opposition parties, accusing them of attacking and killing ruling party workers before crying foul to mislead the public.

In response to the incident, the police have arrested five individuals on Wednesday morning. They will be presented in court later in the day.

The state’s Director General of Police (DGP), Manoj Malviya, described the violence and clashes as sporadic incidents. He claimed that these incidents are being blown out of proportion and projected greatly, emphasizing that minor incidents are being falsely depicted as major ones. Malviya stated that the situation is under control, with the police taking prompt action in a couple of instances.

Despite these statements, concerns regarding the ongoing violence and its impact on the forthcoming panchayat elections persist. The elections are scheduled for Saturday, with the vote counting set to take place on July 11.

In the midst of this contentious atmosphere, it is essential for all parties involved to prioritize peace and respect the democratic process. The loss of lives is a tragic and deeply regrettable consequence of this violence and clashes. It is crucial for the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into these incidents and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.

In order to establish a peaceful environment for the upcoming elections, all political parties need to refrain from engaging in violence and inciting further tensions. This includes addressing concerns and grievances through dialogue and legal channels rather than resorting to physical confrontation.

Ultimately, it is the responsibility of the government and relevant authorities to maintain law and order, protect the lives of citizens, and ensure a fair and peaceful electoral process. The safety and well-being of individuals should be the primary concern, and steps should be taken to prevent any further loss of life or escalation of violence.

The upcoming panchayat elections are an opportunity for citizens to exercise their democratic rights and have their voices heard. It is crucial that the electoral process is carried out in a peaceful and fair manner, allowing for the free expression of the people’s will.

The authorities should take immediate and effective measures to address the concerns raised by various parties and maintain a peaceful environment throughout the electoral process. This includes providing adequate security arrangements and ensuring that those responsible for violent acts are swiftly brought to justice.

As the election day approaches, it is imperative for all stakeholders to prioritize the welfare of the people and work towards fostering an atmosphere of peace, inclusivity, and democratic values.
