Transportation Chief Plans Appointment System for Land Transportation Office

In a bid to enhance services and streamline operations, the newly appointed Land Transportation Office (LTO) chief, Vigor Mendoza II, is considering implementing an appointment system for all transactions within the agency. This move aligns with the digitalization program spearheaded by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., which aims to transition all LTO transactions online.

Inspired by the success of the appointment system implemented by the Department of Foreign Affairs for passport applications, Mendoza envisions replicating this process nationwide for driver’s license and motor vehicle applications and renewals.

Speaking on the matter, Mendoza stated, This is already being done at the LTO central office, and we are looking into replicating this process in all our offices across the country, similar to what the DFA is doing. Our fellow countrymen can be assured that we will simplify and expedite the entire process as we push for the immediate implementation of the appointment system.

Aside from improving efficiency, the appointment system is expected to address the long-standing issue of fixers operating within LTO offices. By adopting this system and eventually transitioning to online transactions, it will be significantly harder for fixers to engage in their illicit activities.

The introduction of the appointment system reflects the agency’s commitment to enhancing public service and modernizing their operations. This transition aligns with the government’s digitalization efforts, aiming to provide a more convenient and accessible experience for the Filipino people.

Pending the necessary steps and preparations, Mendoza hopes to implement the appointment system in all LTO offices, revolutionizing the way transactions are conducted. This digital leap not only improves efficiency but also bolsters security and curbs illegal practices, ultimately benefiting the public.

As the agency explores the path towards a more streamlined and technology-driven approach, individuals can look forward to a seamless and hassle-free experience when dealing with the Land Transportation Office. By embracing digitalization, the LTO is poised to become more customer-centric and responsive to the needs of the Filipino people.

The shift towards an appointment system and online transactions marks a significant milestone for the Land Transportation Office. With enhanced accessibility, reduced waiting times, and increased transparency, Filipinos can expect a smoother journey in obtaining licenses and processing vehicle-related matters in the near future.
