Tragic Road Crash on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Claims Two Lives
Two lives were tragically lost in a devastating road crash that occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, Nigeria, on Saturday. Three others also sustained various injuries in the accident, which happened around 5:16 pm near Sandcrate in Ogun.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) released a statement on Sunday, providing details about the incident. According to the spokesperson for the FRSC in Ogun, Florence Okpe, the crash involved a Toyota bus with registration number LND537XA. Four male adults and four female adults were involved in the crash, out of which one male adult and two female adults were injured.
Tragically, two deaths were recorded from the fatal crash, which claimed the lives of one male adult and one female adult. The injured victims were immediately rushed to Victory Hospital Ogere, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at FOS Morgue in Ipara.
Expressing sorrow over the frequency of accidents on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the Sector Commander of the FRSC in Ogun State, Anthony Uga, blamed drivers for not adhering to the stipulated speed limit. Uga extended his sympathies to the families of the victims and urged passengers to report any incidents involving reckless driving by calling the Toll-free number, 122.
The crash was attributed to a suspected burst tire and subsequent loss of control, leading to the lone crash. The FRSC continues to investigate the incident thoroughly to prevent similar accidents in the future.
