The Delhi Directorate of Education (DoE) recently launched the innovative “Project Lighthouse” – an online tracking system enabled with web and mobile apps to monitor the progress of students learning vocational subjects. This real-time monitoring system is being implemented with the help of an NGO, ‘Lend a Hand India’ (LAHI), without any financial implications.
This management information system (MIS) will provide comprehensive information and resources with regards to the vocational branch and its activities, and also feature necessary functions for tracking, monitoring, and evaluating the progress of students in vocational subjects. It is to be implemented in a phased manner. Apart from tracking progress, the app also provides information regarding internships available to students in the area or locality.
DoE’s Vocational branch is committed to enhancing and sustaining the vocationalization of school education across the national capital. To attain this goal, multiple initiatives have been implemented, such as internship/OJT activities, industrial visits, mentor lectures, job fairs, and exit surveys. The app is a step towards providing better implementation of such initiatives by effectively tracking the progress of students.
Project Lighthouse is aimed at helping the department discover new dimensions and strategies for improving the functioning of vocational education in the country.It provides a centralized network that helps students get the most out of their schooling experience. It also connects students with professionals who can help them get the best education possible. This platform is an important asset for the DoE’s endeavors to educate and develop students in NCR.
LAHI has been serving the cause of education, environment, and healthcare for the past 10 years and has made tremendous efforts to connect students with positive learning experiences. The organization has also been working towards creating awareness and providing support to less privileged communities in India. Furthermore, the NGO uses technology-led approaches to contribute to the betterment of the education sector so that students get access to quality career counseling.
