KANDHAMAL (ODISHA): A tourist bus from West Bengal met with an accident in Odisha’s Kandhamal on Wednesday, resulting in injuries to 32 people as the bus fell into a gorge, according to police sources.
Authorities rushed to the scene as soon as they received the distress call and initiated a rescue operation in collaboration with the local fire department and residents of Kandhamal. Prompt action was taken by the police teams from Brahmanigaon and Daringbadi, along with the fire brigade, who arrived at the accident site swiftly to rescue the injured.
The tourist bus involved in the incident was traveling from West Bengal, carrying a group of tourists exploring the scenic beauty of Odisha. The accident occurred within the Brahmnigaon police station limits, leaving passengers shaken and injured. The injured individuals were immediately attended to and provided with necessary medical aid.
Eyewitnesses at the scene described the harrowing moment when the bus lost control and veered into the gorge, causing screams and panic among the passengers. It all happened so suddenly. The driver seemed to lose control of the bus, and before we knew it, we were plummeting into the gorge. It was a nightmare, a survivor shared.
