Tottenham Midfielder Ndombele Offered Escape Route from Exile at Genoa

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has been offered a lifeline by Italian club Genoa, potentially providing a way out of his current exile under manager Ange Postecoglou. Despite the Carabao Cup match against Fulham offering an opportunity for fringe players, Ndombele was once again left out of the squad. This latest development has prompted the 26-year-old to consider a season-long loan move to Genoa, following his stints at Napoli and Lyon in recent seasons.

Ndombele’s lack of involvement at Tottenham has been a significant disappointment for the club, especially considering the substantial £63 million they invested in him, making him their club-record signing. The French international, who has earned seven caps for his country, still has two years remaining on his £120,000-a-week contract, complicating any potential transfers.

Postecoglou has expressed his intention to trim the squad and offload several players, suggesting that up to seven members of the team could be available for transfer. His aim is to streamline the squad inorder to bring in some new talent and strengthen the areas that require improvement. This announcement has sparked speculation about the future of other players who may become surplus to requirements.

In order to recoup some of the significant transfer fee paid for Ndombele, a loan move could be the best option for both Tottenham and the midfielder. By gaining regular playing time at Genoa, Ndombele would have the chance to rediscover his form and potentially attract suitors for a permanent transfer in the future. On the other hand, Tottenham could benefit from reducing their wage bill by sending Ndombele out on loan.

With time still available before the transfer window closes, it remains to be seen whether Ndombele will accept the opportunity to join Genoa on loan. However, considering his lack of playing time at Tottenham, as well as the prospect of being offered a fresh start at a new club, it could be a tempting offer for the Frenchman. Ultimately, the decision lies with Ndombele, and both Tottenham and Genoa will be eagerly waiting to see if they can strike a deal that satisfies all parties involved.
