A new rescue vessel, the Horizon Arctic, has been deployed to aid in locating a submersible that has been uncontactable since Sunday after leaving to visit the Titanic shipwreck. Insiders fear that oxygen levels on board may be dangerously low. The Horizon Arctic vessel travelled more than 400 miles across the Atlantic Ocean to reach the Canadian coast and offers a critical support system for the rescue effort. Capable of carrying up to 60 persons, the ship’s cables extend deep into the ocean with two Hyundai winches able to pull 6,000kg up on board. Reports suggest that the sub has only one day’s worth of oxygen left. There is mounting concern for the international team of maritime experts and civilians aboard the sub, which cannot return to the surface unless located by rescuers.
