A 24-year-old man who was arrested for theft has tragically died in police custody at a police station in Hazaribag district, Jharkhand. The incident has led to the immediate suspension of four police personnel. The deceased, identified as Ashfaq Khan, allegedly strangled himself with his trouser in the washroom of Barhi police station.
The unfortunate incident unfolded after villagers caught Khan stealing in a house on Monday night. They handed him over to the Barhi police station. The following day, when Khan was due to be taken to court, he requested to use the toilet in the detention room.
