I’ve admired Art Garfunkel’s angelic voice for years and I feel very grateful to sing all of this incredible music every night, said Smith, who has put immense effort into studying Garfunkel’s vocals for this role. He has a very specific sound, and I always have to check back into the recordings of him singing before going on stage every night. His voice is very iconic, so I want to get it right.
One of the highlights of the show is the recreation of Simon and Garfunkel’s famous reunion concert in 1981. Smith’s favorite part is bringing the magic of that concert alive for the audience. The audience gets to experience what it would have been like to have seen that concert live. I love singing the song ‘Baby Driver’ in particular during that part of the show, he explained.
