Telford & Wrekin Council has unveiled the official name of the digital skills and enterprise hub in the Station Quarter development. The hub will be known as The Quad and is expected to revolutionize education, business innovation, and digital skills in the region. This collaborative project involves Telford & Wrekin Council, Telford College, Harper Adams University, and other partners. With an emphasis on bridging education and industry, The Quad aims to create opportunities for learning, innovation, and business growth.
The Chair of Telford Towns Fund Board, Graham Wynn, expressed his excitement about The Quad, calling it a significant asset for the town center. Councillor Lee Carter, Telford & Wrekin Cabinet Member for Place (The Economy & Neighbourhood Services), added that it would provide pathways and opportunities for students already engaged in education and training, as well as inspiration for those who may not have considered further training or upskilling.
Harper Adams University’s Vice Chancellor and CEO, Ken Sloan, stated that the institution was thrilled to be part of The Quad, highlighting their degree programs that align with industry needs. These programs include Applied Data Science, Robotics, Automation & Mechatronic Engineering, and Digital Business Management, all aimed at preparing graduates for the digital landscape.
Graham Guest, Principal and CEO of Telford College, emphasized that their investment in the Station Quarter demonstrates a unique collaboration between industry and education. The college will deliver upskilling programs requested by employers, supporting careers in areas such as cybersecurity, AI and robotics, virtual and augmented reality, cloud computing, wireless technologies, and 5G innovation.
Enrollment for courses at The Quad is currently open on the websites of Harper Adams University and Telford College. This digital skills and enterprise hub will welcome students of all ages and backgrounds when it officially opens its doors in September.
The Quad promises to redefine education, business innovation, and digital skills provision in the region, acting as a transformative space that bridges the gap between education and industry. With its focus on learning, innovation, and business growth, this collaborative initiative aims to elevate aspirations and equip individuals for successful careers in the digital era.
