The UK arm of The Body Shop, a renowned cosmetics company known for its ethical hair and skin products, has entered bankruptcy, putting thousands of jobs at risk. The company has appointed experts from FRP Advisory to oversee administration and find the best means of securing its future. German private equity firm Aurelius had purchased The Body Shop in November, but the retailer struggled during the critical Christmas trading period. The company operates approximately 200 shops in the UK and employs around 10,000 staff directly, with an additional 12,000 employed via franchises. The Body Shop was founded in 1976 by Anita Roddick and has been under various ownership since its sale to L’Oreal in 2006.
