The Beatles have surprised fans by releasing an unseen music video for their long-lost song, Now And Then. In collaboration with filmmaker Peter Jackson, the band has brought this forgotten gem to life after decades.

Now And Then was originally written and sung by the late John Lennon in the late 1970s. The other band members, Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Ringo Starr, and the late George Harrison, later developed the track. However, due to limited technology at the time, the band was unable to release the song, citing issues with extracting Lennon’s vocals and piano in a clear mix.

Fortunately, technology has now advanced, and Peter Jackson was able to use audio restoration technology in his recent Beatles documentary, The Beatles: Get Back. This allowed him to isolate vocals, music, and conversations from the band, including the recording of Now And Then. Jackson initially hesitated to create a music video for the song, feeling overwhelmed by the responsibility of living up to The Beatles’ legacy. However, with the discovery of long-forgotten footage from the 1995 recording sessions and new performances from Sir Paul and Sir Ringo, he felt inspired to bring the song to life visually.

The music video aims to evoke emotions and pay tribute to The Beatles. It will feature unseen outtakes of the band, showcasing their relaxed, funny, and candid side. Jackson hopes that the video, alongside the beautiful song, will bring a few tears to the eyes of fans.

In addition to the release of Now And Then, two compilation albums, 1962-1966, The Red Album and 1967-1970, The Blue Album, will be re-released with 21 newly added tracks. Fans can also look forward to a 12-minute documentary, directed by Oliver Murray, and featuring commentary from Sir Ringo and Sir Paul. This documentary will be available on The Beatles’ YouTube channel.

The highly anticipated track, Now And Then, will be released on November 2 as a double A-side with The Beatles’ 1962 debut single, Love Me Do. The cover art for the release has been created by US artist Ed Ruscha.

Fans worldwide are eagerly awaiting the release of this long-lost Beatles song and the accompanying music video. The rediscovery and restoration of Now And Then serve as a testament to the timeless appeal of The Beatles’ music and the enduring legacy of John Lennon and the band as a whole.
