The Acemx, the first association of Chilean startups in Mexico, has been established with the objective of bringing together Chilean startups, executives, partners, and funding sources that have a presence in the country. With over 500 Chilean companies operating in Mexico and numerous Chilean executives in prominent positions within Mexican companies, the Association of Chilean Entrepreneurs in Mexico (Acemx) was created to provide a platform for collaboration and support.
Sebastian Barros, president of Acemx and regional vice president of sales at Ericsson, has organized the first event for July 5th in Mexico City, with the aim of gathering more than 70 people. The primary purpose of this event is to recruit partners for the association and establish strategic alliances with companies like Amazon Web Services and ProChile, which are already part of Acemx, along with other notable mentors.
The founding of Acemx was inspired by a podcast initiated by Barros earlier this year, titled El 10%: Emprendedores sin Frontera – chilenos que emprenden en México (The 10%: Entrepreneurs without Borders – Chileans Who Undertake in Mexico). The podcast primarily interviews Chileans who have started their own businesses in Mexico, and from this initiative, the idea of forming an association emerged.
The board of directors for Acemx has already been established, consisting of Miguel Ángel Vergara, co-founder and CEO of Instance Latam; Francisco Kemeny, from DILL, SYMOVA, and an advisor of Examedi; Matías Correa, from Sherpa WMC; and Javier Urzúa, finance manager of the event production company Prokart.
Next Wednesday, the first ACEMX Talks event will take place, featuring the participation of Lina Peña from Elevar Equity, a venture capital firm; Tomás Durandeau, Chief Customer Officer of Walmart Mexico and Central America; and Patricio Mois, senior VP of global operations at Kavak, all of whom are Chilean. The session will be moderated by Miguel Ángel Vergara from Instance.
The establishment of the Acemx association is relevant for startups in Latin America as it creates a platform for networking, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing among Chilean entrepreneurs and executives based in Mexico. By bringing together a diverse range of professionals, the association aims to foster innovation, partnerships, and access to funding sources for startups operating in both Chile and Mexico.
Through events like ACEMX Talks, participants can learn from experienced entrepreneurs and industry leaders, gaining valuable insights that can help accelerate the growth and success of their own startups. Additionally, the strategic partnerships formed by Acemx with companies like Amazon Web Services and ProChile offer startups access to resources, support, and potential business opportunities.
Overall, the establishment of the Acemx association provides a significant networking and support platform for Chilean startups in Mexico. By leveraging the expertise and resources of its members, the association aims to drive innovation, collaboration, and growth within the startup ecosystem of both countries, ultimately benefiting the Latin American startup community as a whole.
