Thalapathy Vijay, the superstar of Tamil cinema, is planning to enter politics and fill the void left by the demise of M. Karunanidhi and J. Jayalalithaa, the two towering leaders of Tamil politics, according to sources close to the actor. After conducting a detailed survey using a national agency, Vijay has reportedly found that there is no leader with a pan-Tamil Nadu presence other than Stalin. The AIADMK has been struggling with back-to-back electoral defeats since the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and there is currently no proper opposition to Stalin in Tamil Nadu. Vijay has studied the bylaws of both the DMK and AIADMK and intends to blend the essence of the two Dravidian parties for his party’s bylaws. Although not planning a move ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Vijay is targeting the 2026 Assembly polls.
