Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdogan has reportedly extended an invitation to Tesla CEO Elon Musk to build a Tesla factory in Turkey. According to Turkish officials, during a meeting at the Turkish House in New York, Erdogan asked Musk to consider Turkey as one of the most important candidates for Tesla’s next factory. He also highlighted that many of the country’s suppliers already work with Tesla, indicating a solid foundation for collaboration.

The communications directorate of Turkey stated that Musk expressed his interest in the proposal, though Tesla has yet to respond to the request for comment. Musk acknowledged Turkey’s significance and its potential as a future location for a Tesla factory. This aligns with his previous statement in May that Tesla would likely select a new factory location by the end of the year.

It appears that Erdogan’s meeting with Musk went beyond discussions about the Tesla factory. Turkish officials revealed that Erdogan expressed Turkey’s openness to cooperate with Musk’s other ventures, such as Starlink and artificial intelligence. Starlink is the satellite internet endeavor of Musk’s SpaceX, and the Turkish President expressed interest in the country gaining the license to offer Starlink satellite services.

Furthermore, Erdogan invited Musk to attend the upcoming Turkish aerospace and technology festival, Teknofest, at the end of September. Musk gladly accepted the invitation, expressing his willingness to attend.

While it is uncertain whether a Tesla factory will be established in Turkey, these developments highlight the country’s ambition to attract influential technology companies. If Tesla were to establish a factory in Turkey, it could provide new job opportunities and positively impact the country’s economy.

Turkey has been actively promoting its technology sector and emphasizing its commitment to innovation and advanced technological infrastructure. The invitation extended by Erdogan to Musk demonstrates the country’s dedication to becoming a prominent player in the global technology landscape.

As discussions continue between Turkish officials and Elon Musk, eyes will be on whether a Tesla factory will indeed be established in Turkey. The potential collaboration between Turkey and Tesla could pave the way for further advancements in the country’s technology sector and reinforce its position in the global tech industry.
