Tennessee Couple Vanishes on Alaskan Vacation, Search Ongoing

A Tennessee couple has gone missing while on vacation in Alaska, leaving authorities concerned and launching a desperate search and rescue operation. Jonas Bare, 50, and Cynthia Hovsepian, 37, had not returned home as scheduled nor had they contacted their family, prompting the investigation.

The Fairbanks Police Department discovered the couple’s luggage still at their accommodations, indicating that they had not checked out on the expected date. Their vehicle, a dark-blue Jeep Compass, was later found parked at Chena Hot Springs Resort, providing a lead for the search teams.

The couple was last seen on August 10 on a popular hiking trail near the resort. The Alaska State Troopers, alongside the Fairbanks police, have been actively searching the area with helicopters, drones, ATVs, search and rescue crews, and K9 teams. However, efforts to locate the missing couple are ongoing.

Jonas Bare, described as having brown hair and brown eyes, stands at 5’9 and weighs 190 lbs. Cynthia Hovsepian, who has blonde hair and green eyes, is 5’6 tall and weighs 120 lbs. It is important to note that she is visually impaired and sometimes uses a cane for assistance.

There is no information regarding the clothing they were last seen wearing. The urgency to find them is intensified by Bare’s recent Facebook posts, where he expressed his desire to go hiking and his hope of not getting lost, recalling a previous experience in Australia. He also mentioned that he would consider an encounter with a Kodiak as an honorable death.

As the search for Jonas Bare and Cynthia Hovsepian continues, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. Their loved ones anxiously await their safe return, hoping for a positive outcome in this mysterious disappearance.

If you have any information regarding this case, please contact the authorities immediately.
