Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised Telangana for its rapid economic growth and development, stating that it is fast becoming a hub of economic activity. The Prime Minister made these comments during the laying of the foundation stone for several infrastructure projects in the state. Telangana has seen a significant increase in its highway network, with it doubling in size from 2500 km to 5000 km in the past nine years. Additionally, there are plans for the construction of an additional 2500 km of national highways. These developments are part of the government’s focus on improving infrastructure and connectivity in Telangana.
The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of Telangana’s connectivity in establishing its position as an economic center. Several corridors that are part of the Bharatmala Project, including the Hyderabad-Indore Economic Corridor and the Hyderabad-Visakhapatnam Inter Corridor, pass through Telangana. These corridors will enhance connectivity both within the state and with neighboring regions, providing a boost to trade and commerce. Furthermore, the construction of the Mancherial-Warangal Section of the Nagpur-Vijayawada Corridor will improve connectivity between Telangana, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh.
The expansion and improvement of Telangana’s highway network will have a positive impact on various industries and sectors within the state. The four-laning of the Karimnagar-Warangal section of National Highway 563, for example, will strengthen connectivity to industrial corridors such as the Hyderabad-Warangal Industrial Corridor, the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park, and the Warangal Special Economic Zone. This increased connectivity is benefiting various stakeholders, including farmers, laborers, students, professionals, and the youth who are now gaining access to new employment and self-employment opportunities closer to their homes.
Telangana is also emerging as a significant contributor to the Make in India campaign. Over 50 major projects are being implemented in the state under the Production-Linked Incentive scheme, attracting investment and promoting local manufacturing. Additionally, India’s defense exports have witnessed substantial growth, crossing ₹16,000 crore today compared to ₹1000 crore nine years ago. Hyderabad-based Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) is among the beneficiaries of this growth.
Addressing the inauguration of the Railway Manufacturing Unit in Kazipet, the Prime Minister described it as a vital element of the Make in India initiative. The manufacturing unit is expected to create numerous employment opportunities in the area, further contributing to Telangana’s economic growth. The event was attended by Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, Union Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Development of North-Eastern Region G Kishan Reddy, and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.
Telangana’s rapid development and improved connectivity are testament to the government’s commitment to infrastructure and economic growth. As Telangana continues to position itself as an important economic center, it will attract more investments and opportunities, driving further progress and prosperity for the state and its people.
