Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], December 7 (ANI): Telangana Chief Minister-designate Revanth Reddy has arrived in Hyderabad amidst a grand welcome from party supporters. Reddy reached the city after meeting top Congress leaders in the national capital, Delhi. He is scheduled to be sworn in as the chief minister on Thursday following the party’s victory in the assembly polls.
Reddy was greeted by enthusiastic party supporters upon his arrival at the Begumpet airport in Hyderabad on Wednesday evening. Earlier in the day, he had meetings with Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi. The Congress leaders expressed their congratulations and support to Reddy.
Rahul Gandhi, through his official handle on X, posted a message of congratulations to Reddy, expressing confidence in the Congress government’s ability to fulfill its promises to the people of Telangana under Reddy’s leadership.
Reddy expressed his gratitude to the party leaders and supporters for their unwavering support throughout his political journey. He acknowledged the affection and loyalty of his followers who have stood by him through every challenge and triumph.
Revanth Reddy, known for his criticism of outgoing Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, emerged as the face of the Congress party during the assembly polls. He joined Congress in 2017 after leaving the TDP and was appointed as the president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee in June 2021.
The Congress party’s victory in the assembly polls marks the first time they have won an absolute majority in Telangana since the state was founded, securing 64 out of 119 seats. The Bharat Rashtra Samithi, which ruled Telangana for 10 years, finished significantly behind the Congress with 38 seats. The BJP won eight seats, and AIMIM secured seven.
With the oath-taking ceremony scheduled for Thursday, all eyes are now on Revanth Reddy as he prepares to lead Telangana and fulfill the promises made to the people. His journey from contesting the assembly polls to becoming the Chief Minister-designate has been filled with challenges and triumphs, and he now embarks on a new chapter in the state’s political landscape.
