Telangana CM Revanth Reddy accuses KCR of betrayal in water-sharing, dares him to debates on issue

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], February 5: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has accused former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) of betraying the people in regards to the water-sharing of Krishna and Godavari rivers. Reddy announced during a press conference that his government would release a white paper on irrigation projects in Telangana and challenged the KCR Government to discuss water sharing in the upcoming budget session.

Reddy specifically called out KCR, Harish, KTR, and Kavitha Rao, urging them to participate in a project-wise debate in the Assembly to prove their integrity and sincerity. He emphasized the need for truth to prevail and for the people of Telangana to know who had done injustice to the state.

According to Reddy, the previous BRS government agreed to divert water that should have come to Telangana to Andhra Pradesh. He also alleged that 15 projects were set to be handed over to the Krishna River Management Board in 2022 as per the agreement made by the previous government.

Reddy further accused KCR and BRS leaders of spreading misleading information and attempting to gain political benefits through deceptive campaigns. He pointed out that it was the KCR Government that approved the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, ultimately allowing the distribution of Krishna and Godavari waters to be handed over to the Centre. Reddy claimed that TRS did not object, and KCR voted in favor of the law.

In response to Reddy’s allegations, BRS spokesperson Dasoju Srravan dismissed them as resort politics by the Congress party. Srravan accused the Congress of misusing public funds for their political conspiracies and emphasized the need for the people of Telangana to be aware of their actions.

The water-sharing issue between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh has been a long-standing point of contention. Reddy’s challenge for a debate on the matter highlights the urgency and importance of resolving this issue for the welfare of both states.

The upcoming budget session promises to be a platform for discussing the water-sharing problem extensively. As the people of Telangana await the white paper on irrigation projects, they hope for a fair resolution that ensures justice and equitable sharing of water resources.

The debate between Revanth Reddy and KCR, if it takes place, will be a significant event that could shed light on the past decisions made regarding water-sharing and help shape better policies for the future.

It remains to be seen whether KCR and the other leaders will accept the challenge and participate in the debate. The outcome of this confrontation will impact the lives and livelihoods of the people of Telangana, making it a matter of utmost importance for the state.

The issue of water-sharing goes beyond political affiliations and personal agendas. It is about the welfare of the people and the sustainable development of the region. The citizens of Telangana deserve transparency, accountability, and a fair distribution of water resources.

As the debate looms, all eyes will be on the Assembly session, waiting to witness how the leaders will present their arguments and propose solutions. The water-sharing issue affects the lives of millions, and it is imperative for the government to prioritize the interests of the people and work towards a just resolution.

The debate between Revanth Reddy and KCR, if it materializes, has the potential to bring much-needed clarity to the water-sharing issue. The people of Telangana hope that the leaders will rise above political differences and come together to find a sustainable solution that benefits everyone involved.

While tensions may be high and accusations may continue to be exchanged, it is crucial for all parties to approach the issue with open minds and a genuine willingness to find common ground. The time for debates and discussions has come, and it is up to the leaders to show their commitment to the welfare of the people by engaging in meaningful dialogue.

As the state awaits the budget session and the release of the white paper on irrigation projects, it is a critical juncture for Telangana. The decisions made now will shape the future of the region and determine the stability and prosperity of its people.

The water-sharing issue is a pressing matter that requires urgent attention and resolution. The people of Telangana look to their leaders to prioritize their needs and work towards a fair and equitable distribution of water resources, ensuring the prosperity and progress of the state.

As the debate on water-sharing approaches, the hope remains that the leaders will rise to the occasion and work towards a mutually beneficial solution that upholds the principles of justice and equality for all. The people of Telangana deserve nothing less.
