Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav has stated that the 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be fought on people’s issues and not on the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Speaking in Patna after returning from Chennai, Tejashwi responded to claims by BJP leaders that the opposition meeting in Patna on June 23 is aimed at making the country Congress Mukt. He said that the purpose of the meeting has already been clarified by opposition parties, and that the focus needs to be on people’s issues such as inflation and unemployment. He stressed that elections are not solely about the Prime Minister, but rather about the concerns affecting the country’s people.
Removing one person from the post of Prime Minister is not the only concern for us. The elections are for the people of the country. They will choose the next government and they have already made the assessment of the present government. The people of the country are hit by price rise, unemployment etc, and the elections will be fought on these issues, he said.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal leader vowed to discuss plans to address these issues at the opposition meeting on June 23. Tejashwi had gone to Chennai on Tuesday to attend an event organised in the memory of former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M. Karunanidhi. He also invited M.K. Stalin to attend the meeting in Patna. Tejashwi believes that a change is necessary and emphasized the importance of focusing on the citizens of India, not just one person, in the upcoming elections.
