Teen Tragically Drowns in New Braunfels River Incident
In a heartbreaking turn of events, a 16-year-old teenager lost his life after a swimming outing with his family in the Comal River, near the New Braunfels Tube Chute in Texas. The incident occurred on Saturday around 3 p.m., prompting authorities to be called in for a report of a missing person.
According to city officials, the young boy was swimming alongside his family above the Tube Chute Dam when he suddenly disappeared beneath the water’s surface and failed to resurface. River patrol officers immediately initiated a search of the area, desperately hoping to locate the missing teenager.
It was only at 5:20 p.m. that the teen was discovered by fellow swimmers just above the dam. Bystanders swiftly pulled him out of the water, springing into action by promptly dialing 911 and initiating CPR until help arrived on the scene. The teen was then rushed to Christus New Braunfels hospital by ambulance, but tragically, he was later pronounced deceased.
Out of respect for his grieving loved ones, the city officials have chosen not to release the teen’s name to the public. Authorities have stated that there is no evidence of foul play, and alcohol was not a contributing factor to the incident. However, detectives are carefully investigating the possibility of an underlying medical condition that may have played a role.
