Teacher Arrested for Selling Fake National Exam Papers
In a shocking development, a teacher at the St Lilian Academy in Gikambura, Kenya, has been apprehended by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) detectives attached to the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC). The teacher, identified as Nicholas Ngumbau Kalewa, also known as ‘Mr examiner,’ was found to be in possession of fake national examination papers and was allegedly involved in their sale.
According to the DCI, Nicholas Ngumbau Kalewa operated multiple Whatsapp and Telegram accounts, where he offered to sell fake primary and secondary national examination papers. The papers were being sold for prices ranging from S|h1,500 to 2,000.
Detectives, who infiltrated the groups while posing as students, witnessed the teacher cautioning over 900 parents and students against engaging in matters outside the groups. He emphasized that he was the only one with genuine examination papers and warned them about scammers.
After conducting their investigations, the detectives arrested the suspect in Gikambura village, Kiambu county. It was during the arrest that they discovered Kalewa in possession of multiple SIM cards, which he had obtained using stolen identity cards. These SIM cards were allegedly used to open bank accounts.
