TDP General Secretary Urges President’s Intervention in Chandrababu Naidu’s Arrest
In a significant development, TDP National General Secretary Nara Lokesh, along with party MPs, met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtapati Bhawan in Delhi to seek her intervention in the arrest of TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu. Lokesh and TDP MP K Ravindra Kumar also wrote a letter to the President, urging immediate action in this matter.
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has been facing a legal crisis ever since the Andhra Pradesh High Court dismissed Naidu’s plea to quash the FIR against him. The TDP’s legal wing is closely examining the court order, and party President K Atchen Naidu alleged that the state’s Chief Minister, Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, is pursuing a vindictive approach towards the opposition party.
Despite the setback in court, Atchen Naidu declared that the TDP would persevere in its fight against what it claims is the oppressive rule of Chief Minister Reddy. To further support their cause, a film producer and TDP sympathizer, Narayana Rao Atluri, presented a memorandum to Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghal, asserting that Naidu’s imprisonment is a result of political conspiracy.
Meanwhile, the CID (Criminal Investigation Department) has finalized a list of officers who will be assigned to the Rajamahendravaram central prison for further questioning of Chandrababu Naidu. The former Chief Minister is implicated in the Skill Development Corporation Scam case, which reportedly caused losses exceeding Rs 300 crore to the state exchequer.
The TDP’s move to seek the President’s intervention underscores the escalating tensions between the party and the ruling government. It remains to be seen how the President responds to their plea, as well as what actions the TDP will take in light of the court’s dismissal of Naidu’s FIR quash petition.
The situation in Andhra Pradesh continues to evolve, and as the TDP forges ahead with its legal battle, it is likely that political rivalries and tensions will intensify in the coming weeks.
