Tata Steel Mining Limited recently organized a unique event at the Sukinda Chromite Mine campus called Jaiba Kala Vividhata with the goal of promoting biodiversity and raising awareness about the importance of biodiversity conservation. The event featured an array of art forms, all expressing the theme of biodiversity. Environmentalists, artists, community members, and employees of Tata Steel Mining were brought together to engage in discussions and meaningful activities focused on biodiversity conservation.
Renowned artist Badal Pramanik and his team from Shilpi Niketan, Jamshedpur organized a three-day art and craft workshop aimed at encouraging participants to showcase their creative abilities while also understanding the significance of preserving the environment. Speaking at the event, Pankaj Satija, Managing Director of Tata Steel Mining said, We aim to create awareness about the importance of biodiversity and nurturing our cultural heritage. We believe that by celebrating art and nature together, we can inspire positive change and build a better future.
The event also featured an impressive display of different art forms, including mesmerizing rice art, intricate sand art, elegant brass artifacts, and stunning stone carvings, all depicting the intricate relationship between nature and art. The need to conserve the environment and its precious biodiversity was emphasized in all of the artworks.
Anil Jena, Senior Project Fellow from Odisha Biodiversity Board, praised Tata Steel Mining’s efforts towards sustainable development and environmental stewardship. The company had previously commemorated International Day for Biodiversity by organizing a storytelling session aimed at highlighting the importance of biodiversity conservation and documenting the knowledge of the indigenous community.
