Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], January 12 (ANI): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin delivered a powerful address at the World Tamil Diaspora Day 2024, held at the Chennai Trade Centre on Friday. Expressing his delight at welcoming the Tamil diaspora, CM MK Stalin addressed various important issues pertaining to the community.
Refuting recent rumors about his health, CM MK Stalin stated, It was published in a newspaper that I am unwell, and my health condition was bad, but nothing is wrong with me when the people of Tamil Nadu are happy. I am someone who puts aside all such news and works beyond my strength.
In a bid to facilitate the return of Tamils living abroad, CM MK Stalin assured that necessary steps are being taken. We are making efforts to bring back Tamils who want to return home due to medical conditions and various other reasons, he emphasized.
CM MK Stalin further highlighted the Tamil Nadu government’s initiatives in supporting Tamils stranded in foreign countries. A separate department has been set up in the DGP office to receive complaints from Tamils stranded in foreign countries. They have been assured of protection from the extraordinary situations that have occurred in various countries, including Ukraine, Cambodia, and Sudan, he added.
Emphasizing the importance of investment from overseas Tamils, CM MK Stalin revealed that memorandums of understanding have been established to encourage overseas Tamils to invest in their homeland.
Even if we are separated by water, land, and continents, we are all brothers. It doesn’t matter where we live, CM MK Stalin expressed in his attempt to unify the Tamil diaspora.
To commemorate the occasion of World Tamil Diaspora Day, CM MK Stalin honored Tamils who excelled in various fields, including Tamil literature, education, social development, women empowerment, business, science and technology, sports, and medicine.
The two-day World Tamil Diaspora Day celebrations saw participation from Tamils representing about 58 countries. The event was inaugurated by Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development Udhayanidhi Stalin on Thursday.
The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s address at the World Tamil Diaspora Day 2024 was well-received and highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting the Tamil community both within India and internationally. The event not only celebrated the achievements of Tamils from around the world but also emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among the diaspora.
