New stock limits on tur and urad dal implemented by the Indian government to prevent hoarding and improve affordability of these foodstuffs. The limits apply to wholesalers, retailers, big chain retailers, millers, and importers until October 31, 2021. Legal entities must declare their stock position; if exceeding limits, must reduce within 30 days of notification. The move aims to control prices of essential commodities through extensive monitoring and interaction with stakeholders.

The technical survey for the 175-km Gurdaspur-Jammu gas pipeline has been completed, with a decision due this month. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri spoke of the pipeline's potential to enhance the energy security in the region. He also mentioned the successful first-ever real estate summit in Jammu in December 2021 and that a similar summit is planned in Srinagar. Puri said that Jammu and Kashmir has seen significant improvements since the abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35A, and that the delayed assembly elections are due to the region transitioning out of prolonged insurgency.
