Congress-led Karnataka government increases power tariff by Rs. 2.89

The Congress-led government in Karnataka will increase the power tariff by Rs 2.89 per unit from June, affecting those who consume more than 200 units. The hike is to cover cost pertains fuel and Power Purchase Cost Adjustment (FPPCA). The government has been criticized by opposition party BJP and the Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KSSIA), who warn of business shutdowns. Prior to the elections, the BJP government approved the hike proposals but did not implement them.
