Congress Establishes Caste Parity in Karnataka; Cabinet Comprises Eight Lingayats and Six Vokkaligas

On 27th May, 24 new MLAs were sworn in as as Ministers representing various castes and groups in the Karnataka province in the presence of Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. This cabinet expansion brings the total number of ministers to 34. Notable MLAs included Ishwar Khandre, HC Mahadevappa and Shivraja Thangadagi. Representation from both the Maratha and Brahmin communities included. The cabinet comes out of the Congress Party’s effort to keep Karnataka serene and peaceful for its inhabitants.
