From Monday, Kerala will fine traffic violations caught by AI cameras as part of the Safe Kerala initiative. Violations have halved since the cameras were launched in April and are expected to continue to reduce with fines in place. Fines will be issued for overspeeding, not wearing helmets/seat belts, and using mobile phones while driving. However, some offenses, such as riding with a child under 12, will not be fined as Kerala awaits a decision from the Centre. AI cameras can issue up to 20k fines daily.
