T-Mobile Sets Record-Breaking 5G Upload Speed

WASHINGTON – Telecommunication giant T-Mobile has achieved a groundbreaking uplink speed test of 345 Mbps on its 5G SA network, surpassing its previous record. This accomplishment was made possible through the implementation of Uplink Transmit (UL Tx), a novel network technology that enables seamless switching and combines different frequencies to create more uplink capacity and higher uplink speed.

T-Mobile’s UL Tx technology can be likened to adding new faster lanes to the 5G superhighway, allowing for faster data transmission from mobile devices to the network. By utilizing carrier aggregation and single user multiple input, multiple output (SU-MIMO) techniques, T-Mobile was able to deliver uplink speeds 25% faster than its previous record of 275 Mbps.

The introduction of UL Tx is expected to usher in a new era of data transmission, significantly boosting upload speeds. This development is particularly relevant for content creation, remote work, gaming, and virtual reality, where high upload speeds are crucial.

T-Mobile conducted the test using cutting-edge equipment from Nokia’s next-generation AirScale portfolio and a mobile test smartphone powered by Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.’s flagship Snapdragon Modem-RF system. Durga Malladi, Senior Vice President and General Manager at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., expressed the importance of the switched uplink in catering to the growing demand for upload-heavy user applications and devices across various use cases.

While T-Mobile has not provided an exact timeline for the availability of UL Tx to customers, this breakthrough signifies a significant step forward in the evolution of 5G technology. As T-Mobile continues to push boundaries and explore innovative network solutions, users can anticipate even faster and more reliable connectivity in the future.

In conclusion, T-Mobile’s record-breaking 5G upload speed test marks a major milestone in the telecommunications industry. With the implementation of the UL Tx technology, T-Mobile has demonstrated its commitment to delivering exceptional network performance and providing customers with enhanced capabilities for the next generation of mobile experiences.
