Swansea City manager Luke Williams was filmed downing shots with fans after their derby day triumph over Cardiff City. The Swans were 2-0 victors over their south Wales rivals on Saturday (March 16). Liam Cullen gave them the lead on home turf in the first half, but then missed a chance to double it from the penalty spot after the restart.

It was therefore a nervy end to the Championship clash, but Jamal Lowe’s 96th minute finish finally put the game to bed with the last kick of the game – sparking jubilant scenes from the home contingent.

Those celebrations continued long into the night – and Williams was right in the thick of it, being spotted in sports bar Whitez. In one video, the 43-year-old necked a Baby Guinness with three supporters who chanted up the f***ing Swans and we f***ing hate Cardiff City.

It was lapped up on social media, with one supporter replying: What a bloke mun. Another echoed: Love that, what a bloke. A third hailed: This is absolute class. While a fourth commented: I’m living for all these posts lol! What a man. And a fifth argued: Normalise managers getting absolutely spangled with fans after a win.

Williams drinking antics would’ve come as no surprise to those who listened to his post-match interview with Sky Sports, in which he said: I think we need to try to reconnect with the fans and I really hope that today is a step in the right direction.

The team played, I think it’s fair to say, with a passion, they connected with the fans, they gave them something to try and make a noise about, and then of course they oblige, they make noise.

They were with us throughout the whole game and they helped us through a few tough moments, which you’re going to face in any game, particularly in a derby. It’s a huge game for us and to give joy to so many people, we’re so happy we’ve done that today.

With Swansea’s next game not until March 29 due to the international break, Williams had also hinted that he’d be hitting the town in his press conference. I had some food last night and I haven’t eaten since, he told reporters.

So far today I have had five coffees, six teas, one Pepsi Max and a full-fat Coke. So I probably need some food at some point and then if I have got enough left in the tank, I will probably have a few shandies.
