A suspect believed to be involved in the murder of a detective from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation was shot dead during a shootout with police in Kayole, Nairobi. The suspect, identified as John Kamau, also known as Faruk, was fatally wounded by police bullets after he engaged in a confrontation with a group of detectives who had tracked him down in the Soweto area. During the altercation, Faruk managed to injure one of the officers, which prompted the other detectives to open fire, ultimately resulting in his death.

In another shocking incident, a couple was arrested in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County, after they buried their seven-month-old baby in a shallow grave without the necessary permit and under the cover of darkness. The suspicious circumstances surrounding the burial have led the police to launch a murder investigation. Authorities obtained court orders to exhume the body of the baby, named Blessing Mutheu, as part of their efforts to determine the cause of her death. The parents initially claimed that the child had fallen ill and died the previous week.

Meanwhile, an investigation is underway to determine the cause of a fire that engulfed ten cars at garages in Dagoretti, Nairobi. The fire is believed to have originated from one of the garages before spreading to neighboring ones. The owners of the damaged vehicles are now facing significant losses as they survey the wreckage on Wanyee Road, Dagoretti Corner. Nairobi Police boss Adamson Bungei stated that the authorities are yet to establish the exact cause of the fire.

In a distressing incident in Ruai, Nairobi, three children, aged six, seven, and eight, were admitted to the hospital after suffering burns from a live wire. The incident occurred while they were playing in their residential flat. Two of the children, both girls, were electrocuted and burnt after coming into contact with the cables. When their cousin, a young boy, witnessed the burns, he bravely rushed to their aid, unknowingly exposing himself to the same danger.

Additionally, three suspected criminals were shot dead by the police in separate attempted robberies in Nairobi. The police managed to recover two pistols from the suspects. The search for any remaining individuals involved in the crimes is still ongoing, according to Nairobi Police boss Adamson Bungei. The first incident took place along Juja Road, where two suspects were killed while trying to flee from pursuing police officers.

In a significant development related to the murder of Detective David Mayaka in Kayole, it was revealed that the pistol used in the crime had been stolen from an aide to a former Cabinet Secretary. Police announced that the firearm responsible for the fatal shots fired at Detective Mayaka was recovered from a suspect involved in the murder. The suspect, John Kamau, also known as Farouk, met a violent fate after being confronted by the police and refusing to surrender, instead choosing to open fire on the officers.
